Meanwhile In Greece

me!

I'm working in a hotel in the gorgeous town of Halkidiki, Greece. I'll be working hard and making up for that by pissing about out of hours and getting to know my new home that little bit better. Keep an eye out for updates, a lot can happen to a barmaid in Greece.

48 Hours

Greece

This is one of my favourite pictures of Halkidiki, Greece. To anyone else, it’s just a pretty picture of nothing special, but even from this seemingly generic landscape, I can remember exactly where it was and the wealth of character it sits amongst…

I can remember the harbour that stands afoot the tranquil, almost ethereal ocean. I can see the fishing boats that sit there and their owners who recline atop of them. I love my white stoney apartment just ten seconds walk behind, almost as much as the white, sandy beach 60 seconds walk over the way. I’m still enamoured by the two old dogs who march along the strip, never apart, always grumpy, yet seemingly glad you’re around. I can recall my favourite bar, owned by Pete, of Australian origin, with Greece in his heart, while embracing the ridiculously silly Brit binge drinking trend, thank god. I can practically smell his chicken kebabs (‘Giros’), which will no doubt become another regular fixture in my life. And I can pinpoint the places I loved to hang out with the friends I made out there before I left.

It’s been two months since I left there and now it’s two days until I return. You’ll hear more about the things I’ve mentioned once i’m there, hopefully in a successful bid to finish what I started and have a bloody good time.
